A Simple Process – How to Apply Beeswax Polish for Wooden Furniture and Chopping Boards
Most of us are familiar with the basics of applying furniture polish and buffing it to a smooth finish. But for those who are looking for a little more guidance, we’ve put together this helpful guide to make the process even easier.
Before applying any beeswax polish, it's important to ensure your wooden furniture is free from any dust, dirt, or debris. Use a soft cloth or a very soft table brush to gently clean the surface. This small but essential step will allow your beeswax furniture polish to better nourish the wood, leaving it looking polished and well-maintained. Whether you're working with antique wooden furniture or modern wood pieces, this cleaning step enhances the results.
To apply: Use a soft cloth to evenly spread a thin layer of beeswax polish onto the surface. For optimal results, always apply the beeswax polish in the direction of the wood grain. It’s best to apply the beeswax furniture polish at room temperature, as the wax spreads more easily when slightly warm. We currently offer a light beeswax polish, which is suitable for most wood types, including oak, pine, and maple.
If you're using a dark beeswax polish, be sure it's appropriate for your wood type, especially if you’re working with light-colored woods.
After applying the beeswax polish, let it sit for up to 30 minutes to allow the natural beeswax to deeply nourish and hydrate the wood. This gives the beeswax time to penetrate, providing long-lasting protection and a beautiful finish. Our eco-friendly natural beeswax polish will enhance the grain and provide a lovely, subtle sheen.
If pressed for time, it’s fine to leave the beeswax polish on for less time. However, allowing it to sit for the recommended duration will provide the best natural beeswax nourishment and results.

DON'T FORGET TO BUFF THE WOOD FOR A BEAUTIFUL SMOOTH FINISH
Using a soft cloth, gently buff the wooden surface to remove any excess natural beeswax polish. This step will help create a smooth, natural shine while enhancing the wood's beauty. For an even more refined finish, sometimes it's worth applying a second layer of beeswax polish..
RE-APPLY BEESWAX POLISH AS REQUIRED
How often you need to re-apply beeswax polish depends on the condition of your furniture wooden surfaces. There's no need to over-treat. The appearance of the wood will guide you. When the wood begins to look dull, it's time to re-apply a thin layer of beeswax polish for renewed nourishment and shine.
We hope you enjoy this natural process of caring for your wood with our traditional beeswax.
FOR CHOPPING BOARDS
To keep your wooden chopping board in great condition, begin by cleaning it with your usual hygienic method. Make sure the wood is completely dry before applying beeswax treatment.
When applying, use the beeswax treatment sparingly, ensuring an even coat across the surface. This helps to nourish and protect the wood while enhancing its natural grain.
Please Note:
Beeswax treatment is ideal for maintaining and preserving the wood, but it will not restore or protect wood that has already been severely water-damaged. It may improve it, but there's a point where it's best to buy a new board.
Beeswax is a natural by-product of the beehive. Beeswax has been used for centuries to polish and maintain all types of wood.
